There are three ways to examine your ears from distance.
An audiogram (hearing test)
A hearing test (audiogram) performed with a certified audiologist can give a ton of information to your ENT doctor before the doctor ever examines you. An audiogram gives information on the presence of fluid in the middle ears, perforations in the eardrum, or on hearing loss.
Remote picture taking with a small endoscopic camera

It is possible to buy a small ear camera to take pictures of your eardrum from a distance. The camera is plugged into your computer or Android phone to facilitate ear examination during the virtual visit.
Specialized imaging (MRI or CT scan)
Sometimes, an audiogram shows the need to perform specialized imaging of the ears, which gives your doctor a ton of information on the anatomy of your middle and inner ears.
